This frame lovingly showcases my father’s WWII medals and mementos. My dad, Lt. Howard Cook, was a bomber pilot in the 8th Air Force. The silk scarf was always carried in his pocket, and was framed as it was found in the box with the rest of the collection of his things. The newspaper clippings are from a scrapbook that his mother made during his years in the service.Haw Thicket Custom Framing will preserve your family pictures or vacation memories for future generations to enjoy by using archival framing materials which will insure their original quality or prevent them from further damage. Photos of special places, friends and family are keepsakes. Handmade needlework, wedding, sports, military service and other memorabilia are often forgotten and left in a drawer or closet. Let us frame these wonderful momentos for your home, office or for family gifts so they will be appreciated for years to come.

Haw Thicket is located on farmland in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The property was purchased in 1794 and christened "Haw Thicket" by its original owner, Thomas Hannah, a Revolutionary War veteran. It was customary in those days to give a name to their “plantations,” as farms were called at that time. A “haw” is a small upright shrub having frosted dark-blue fruit.

Through the years Haw Thicket has changed owners. Ella Scott King and her husband, Carvel, purchased the farm in the early 1900's. The present Scott owners are her great nephews.
